See, crap like this is why I worry about Dee. That is not a good attitude for survival, for teamwork, and is more than a wee bit cocky. Plus, it shows she totally has not read enough cheesy F&SF: bad guys will totally shot their own men to hit the hero. Its an old trope!
At least she caught herself, and realized she was contradicting the veteran and CO. What I don’t buy is that Rummy’s martial arts, especially the “Whatever Works” influence, would be so tied up in a notion of being a dance fighter. That strikes me as more a story Dee tells herself than an actual reflection on her capabilities.
Anyway, I got inspired by all those long posts that TCampbell made on Shortpacked to try to write longer comments for Fans. I really appreciate and enjoy this webcomic, and so I might as well share the thoughts I have on it. What is Fans without fandom and community, after all?
This doesn’t strike me as the best time to discuss command etiquette.

Di, seduce him with your wiles! You’ll either succeed or scare him off!
Nice commanding there. Had she ducked, Di would have gotten a knee to the face.
Yowch. Hope Aegis has been researching spine-regrowing tech…
