The joke raises an interesting point, though. It seems like truly creative work must be dying off in this world if there’s no market at all for new properties. Unless it’s only America which is so Marvel-cemtric.
Oh, and @Alice: you weren’t expecting a finished story, were you? I thought it was clear all along that this is chapter 1 of a new project T is hoping to submit to Marvel.
Come to think of it, Arky, I wasn’t sure about that. I know it’s a proof-of-concept submission for Marvel, because T has a disclaimer to that effect on the first page. But I’d assumed for some reason it was a one-off story, given its metafictional nature.
T, assuming you’re free to give such details at this point…are you and Jason pitching Webmasters as a back-up feature in one of the Spider-Man titles, as a miniseries, or as something else?
@Arky: It’s a Mac vs. PC argument, writ large. Monocultures and walled gardens are inherently disadvantaged compared to open platforms. The Marvel of Webmasters has been an open platform for thirty years; anyone who tries to come up with a closed entry into a market like that has a VERY tall hill to climb.
So he’s not the hero but also not the villain….just support staff. Hopefully his brain is too truth-linked to let him do anything foolhardy.
“And you only have ten more strips to stop Qaeid, so your advice had better be worth it, kid.”
…I kind of feel for Courtney.
Okay, that was actually pretty funny.
Heh.

Wait….are we NOT getting the end of the story in 10 pages or so? I thought this was gonna be like a Twilight Zone episode.
Now that i think about it wouldn’t Nick Fury be a better match then Captain America? he was the secret agent super solider right?
Third panel… guy’s face… perfect!
I’m surprised he didn’t get a headache in panel one.
This comic is so full of WIN.
