I have great respect for the prophets Stern and David, myself. Not just them, of course, but their philosophizing within the foundations speaks to me the most.
Uh oh. Historically, people don’t like prophets. Nor do they like those who deal in “truth”. The truth will, of a necessity, set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
Well, when I saw they were followers of Ditko, I was expecting a twist on the classic religious fundamentalist. I was expecting that atheistic objectivists could become the new anti-abortion pro-death penalty crowd (which is plausible – though honestly the term ‘Diktovite’ brings to mind vigilante ‘justice’, not picketing and lobbying). I was expecting her to correct him on the nature of their organization re: nominating religious monks. I was NOT expecting Ditko to be the leader of a christian fascist cult.
Don’t the basic tenets of christianity conflict on a fundamental level with the basic tenets of objectivism? I’m having trouble reconciling the two, but I have decided to have faith in T. Campbell on this point. 😉
Ditkovites are not Christians. They just know how to use a more universally respected figure than Steve Ditko (and yes, even on Earth-Spiderman, there is such a thing as “more respected than Steve Ditko”) to bolster their arguments.
That’s pretty contemptible. Cynically leveraging other people’s beliefs against them to manipulate and exploit on a national scale? That’s Peter Popoff-grade evil. But I can see from the next update that Zach’s not buying it.

“Who try to see the truth of things.” Looks like Bodicaea may have just said the magic words.

Oooh, christian fascists!
So are they going to be the villainous organization? Is this a villain origin story after all?
What a twist!
Christian fascists are nothing new. We elect them all the time in Texas, but we just call ’em “Republicans”.

Oh, I might have misunderstood.
…In fact, I think I’m working on a whole different level of assumptions? I’m gonna have to examine this one a little further.
