Seriously, he’s cruising for a brutal lesson in tact, face, and illogical motivations.
Like the one about to tactility “motivate” his face into the curb.
You know what I hear? The comic creator saying “look how much smarter the main character is than anybody else.” In real life “this is what you’re doing wrong” is an easy way to draw aggression from others. In this comic, somehow I doubt that will happen.
It may happen in the short term, at least. Thwip looks humiliated, and may not take that lying down.
Also, character’s actions =/= creator’s viewpoint. We shouldn’t assume T is presenting Zach’s behaviour here as the right way to go about what he wants to achieve.
Assuming, of course, that Zach hasn’t calculated that getting punched by Thwip will result in Jo’s transferal of affections. And that it’s WORTH getting punched for. After all, this is presumably a more idealistic world; probably frowns on football players beating up geeks that were only trying to help…
Maybe he’s trying to make thwip look bad by goading thwip into attacking him while he appears to be merely trying to be helpful. Then he’ll kick Thwips butt by anticipating and preparing for his reaction and he can claim it was self defense after thwip flew off the hinge for no good reason.
Or maybe Thwip says “I appreciate the pointers. I’m always looking to polish my game. Want to come hang out with the popular football players and discuss our zone-blocking scheme while we introduce you to the unattached cheerleaders?”
Stevarious: I don’t know if he’s an actual person, but I took it to mean that in the Spidey-influenced world you’re more likely to be elected to a position if your name is alliterative.
Good thing Zach’s muscles are starting to grow; I think he’s going to need them very shortly when Thwip kicks his ass.
I can’t tell if this is a genuine attempt to be helpful, or a sneaky attempt to humiliate his rival for Gwen Sta- I mean, Jo.

Then again, if Zach can see the patterns that result of his actions, maybe he has already accounted for Thwip’s reaction?

And it may also be that Zach’s new perceptions are awfully useful with ducking, dodging, and improvised judo moves.
I can’t place the President Thomas Templeton guy. Who is that supposed to be?

So, Zach is becoming Ozymandius (Watchmen)?
@Jack: I didn’t pick that up – well played!
I can’t find anything on Emir Qaeid either, but he looks like the offspring of Grigori Rasputin and Freddie Mercury. 😀
