Well I’m not sure he’s enjoying the date, but at least she has succeeded in getting him to stop being so intimidated by her obvious superiority in the social stratum.
Well, a healthy interest in pooping -was- foreshadowed in the previous page where she said she liked bios. :3 Anyway, I’ll consider it all part of clearing away the layer of fantasy that inevitably collects around her, so it s’all good. Classy dame!
I know I’m being uptight but I hate poop references. Not to mention she’s theoretically on a date. If a girl referenced “hearty shitting” to me over dinner it wouldn’t matter how much I otherwise liked her – that would put a huge damper in the mood. I think the intent was to emphasize that Di’s a “cool chick” but it just seems gross for the sake of being gross.
I just find it really off that she talks about shitting as if the burger is doing her a favor there. I’d imagine something like that would take its toll on the way out.
I actually think it doesn’t emphasize that Di’s a cool chick, but rather that her particular path in life hasn’t left her with any grasp of basic etiquette nor given her much self-control in social situations.
I’m not put off by the mention of bodily functions (although I would be if a date did that IRL), but unless the bun is whole wheat or multigrain, I don’t see how the Monsterburger would make her “shit heartier.” All that fatty red meat might actually have the opposite effect. :-p
She has plenty of grace. She is not this way normally. She’s definitely not this way when she’s trying to impress someone. On the contrary: Baxter started out overwhelmed by her. So she’s trying to seem *less* impressive. She’s being graceless on purpose, to try to get Baxter to be less intimidated by her ballet-dancer-ice-queen-ness.
Honestly, I hate to say it, but I think it’s working. I’m very similar to Baxter myself, and to me she suddenly seems a lot more approachable.
“A moment on the lips, an eternity on the hips”. She will need much help working that off. Any Decepticons available?
In my 20’s I knew someone who could inhale a hamburger like that. He would usually do two quarter-pounders in five minutes, plus large fries and drink. That was over 25 years ago, and yes, the last time I saw him he was getting “super-sized”.
I wonder when we will see Di with PTSD issues over getting pounded by “Wheaties” and mauled by “Animal”.
Clearly, more proof that Lockez is my evil twin. I don’t know why, but I wouldn’t be attracted to Di. I mean, I’d probably find her to be, physically, a knockout, but there’d be nothing more to catch my interest. Although, this is possibly because I don’t prefer blondes. 😛
Still I say this isn’t a bad start to the date. Sure Bax might not be all that happy at this moment. But he’s still not board or is he boaring Di. So there’s hope for this date yet!
Well, it certainly humanizes her, but not in a great way. In fact, it’s almost inhuman how she inhales that burger.
Also, what’s up with toupee guy in the background? Is it seizing the chance to escape, like what I’ve always suspected Trump’s hair will do one day? Was the dude wearing a tribble on his head? Whatever it is, I found it hilarious. XD
I dunno, am I the only one who thinks it’s kinda ridiculous that everyone says, “Oh, this humanizes her, but I still hate her guts?” If the writing is any good here (which I’d say it is, if everyone’s read this far) Di won’t stay as the static, bitchy bitchy character everyone hates. She’ll go through some character development, like Katherine, and this date is probably gonna be one of the biggest steps for her. Shouldn’t we prepare to be nice rather than spiteful?
I’m just sitting here thinking “What If..” this was the first Faans comic you read…Guess that’s why I always tell people when I recomend this comic to BE SURE TO START AT THE START…
Guys, I think we’re breaking a comment record on here. I don’t know for sure, but I can dream. Also, as for Di’s character, I don’t like her because she’s somewhat shallow and hasn’t confronted her own flaws yet. But I think that might change in the next few arcs. I’m interested in the outcome of this date right now more than anything else.
… Awesome. Also, I think “HRALMPH” is the best possible sound effect EVER in context.
By no means a bad start… Now to see where it goes from here.
No, that’s not how you eat, Bax. You have to put food in your hand first.
Well I’m not sure he’s enjoying the date, but at least she has succeeded in getting him to stop being so intimidated by her obvious superiority in the social stratum.
I think I’m in love.
“My mom’s the only other person I know who can take a sandwich like that!”
… the characters in Penny and Aggie don’t ever talk about pooping.
I think I’ll read Penny and Aggie from now on.

Locke, he’s just putting some food in his nose for later.

Hey guys, it’s okay…

I personally don’t see liking Di being proof of anything Locke…

Don’t get me wrong, she’s less scary to date when she shows human faults, but I still hate her.

Di demonstrates her enormous swallowing capacities.

Oh, Di, what kind of way is that to behave?
You should savor a burger like that.

Well Let’s hope this isn’t one of those. I feel comfortable around you cause I think of you like a younger brother moments. 😛
Wow. Just wow.
I know it’s usually a fool’s errand to want to Mary Sue one’s way into a webcomic (and it usually ends with the Mary Sue’s messy demise), but…
Di’s almost worth it.
