It isn’t clear to me if the leader’s… power bolt/McFarlane-style spider-web shot/whatever made the blue alien disappear, or if the alien pulled a Kurt Wagner and dodged the attack by teleporting
What’s troubling to me is that the maid girl (Mecha Maid? The name escapes me) isn’t present below them in that one panel. Where has she gone? Was she not drawn for artistic effect in that she’s either behind Link or off-panel to the left or right, or because she already reacted and moved away, to do whatever she’s about to do?
Notice Bax is holding something only vaguely gun-like but NOT shooting. Perhaps he is running some sort of interference against Mechtech? I imagine figuring out how she did that and blocking against the effect would not just be priority #1 for the tech crew, but an absolute requirement before they would dare an engagement like this.
FEAR THE POWER OF CROSSHATCH. HIS ARE THE INTERLOCKING LINES WHICH HOLD THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER.
It’s Crosshatch Man, folks. Team Alpha stands no hope. Welp, a depressing ending to Fans, but I’m looking forward to your new comic on the adventures of Crosshatch Man and His Wacky Friends.
Huh. So the leader’s power is plasma bolts? Or something?
I mean it’s cool and all… but I was expecting something different.
It looks more like he’s sending their shots back at them.
That’s what I think too… although that still doesn’t really explain how he’s doing it. Or if it’s all he can do.
Hallelujah! – It’s raining fen!

It looks like the blue alien dodged to the side, then teleported as it started to arc downward…leaving it on a collision course with Marc’s rear.

*Jaw drops*
Holy shit… Locke was right… Crosshach Beam!
Ran out of room. It’s a pretty narrow panel. She’s out of frame, running for cover.
Mechtech’s absence in the panel doesn’t surprise me as much as the fact that she’s not shushing the guns this time.

Sharp eyes, Stevarious. You’ll see what Bax is holding next update.
