Is he a space cop? Is he an alien barbarian? Is he a museum curator? Does he have wings growing out of his shoulders, or attached with a harness? Is he from Earth? Is he from Thanagar? Is his name Carter Hall, Kirtar Hol, or something in between? Have all of these things been true thanks to reincarnation, or just some of them? Which of these is true (today)? Which is the best version? Did not giving Kendra all of her past-life memories make them a sad tale of star-crossed lovers, or did it make him a creepy stalker chasing after a much younger girl whom he insists should be in love with him? Aren’t they supposed to be fated to die together, anyway, so why did Shayera die and he survive in the first place? Is that Women in Refrigerators Syndrome? (Tangent: The term Women in Refrigerators comes from Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern, whose girlfriend Alex was killed and stuffed in the fridge by a complete psychopath- does it help or hurt the creators’ case that they later introduced an alternate-reality version of Alex who was alive, but had lost Kyle in the same way when she found the ring? What about the fact that the alternate Alex was later revealed to be a figment of Kyle’s imagination?) Was it particularly awesome when the two of them got killed at the beginning of Blackest Night, or was it just the Worf Effect used for a great example of how Anyone Can Die? Is it okay that Shayera came back to life at the end instead of Kendra, or is it kind of creepy? Does reincarnation mean they really are interchangeable- just the same soul in a choice of bodies? Is it okay that they came back at all, after everything Nekron said about how “you will escape death- no more!”?
Thank you, Mr. Teatime. See also: Comics, Everybody’s strip on the origin of Hawkman and all the twists and turns his life has taken throughout the years. It gets pretty wacky…
You’d think, what with Rumi being a major part of an international organization that’s saved the world countless times, her mother would be given a hero’s burial as well…if she weren’t estranged from her daughter.
I have no idea why you’d think that. Parade burials are only for the creatures that earn them. Not their family members. No one is going to give Mother Teresa’s parents a state funeral, nor the Pope’s, or a Head of State.
Also, this is an immediate family funeral. Do you notice how there are no friends of the family in attendance? No one knows about this except for those in the know.
I really want to slap Akane right now, Ru is absolutely right nagging a mourning widower about him not being able to afford a burial in an economy that makes it so hard to afford is a pretty crappy thing to do.
Akane just looks weary.
Family roles such as The Nagger, The Perfect Angel, The Troublemaker, The Sorrow Sponge, are passed down from generation to generation.
Dang, Akane is funneling some serious anger towards undeserving targets. What’s got here kimono in a twist?
Ah, Rumi. Remember: There’s nowt so queer as folk.
@Locke, my guess would be life, the universe, and….well, everything.
Bad choice, Rum’ – Hawkman is insufficiently distracting.
Now, BIRDman…

Kadzooque,
