Great, they’ve just given the keys to the planet to Mr. Jobs, for him to make into a “walled garden” of proprietary iEverything, a horrific dystopia worse even than what Mr. Gates, Mr. Ballmer, et. al., would do if they could. It also shows that “Cloud” flatly ignored the “threat” represented by Mr. Torvalds. Hell, even within Apple, Mr. Wozniak would have been the real 1337 h4xx0r threat, not Jobs. And how in the heck did Our Heros get OSX to run on non-Apple hardware? And how was OSX somehow more secure and less susceptible to even cinematic-style haxxoring than the equally UNIX-based flavor of Linux that the server was probably already running? If they were running M$ Server, revoke the kid’s geek credentials, right now! 😉
Is “great success” (rather than “huge success”) just a mistake, or is it more of that non-copyright-infringing fake-name stuff this comic used to do with absolutely everything?
uhm…. you indeed can make pc compatible intel system to run the mac OS’s…. silly software cant make out the difference if you got the right crack and hardware that is equivalent in performance… i would tell you how, but i would have to kill you right after that :D… you have not read this comment, and i have not tiped it… it would destroy in ten seconds.
(in an unrelated by the by…. is T going to start plugging mac like S.Kurtz?)
This has got to be a setup. This cannot be the answer.
If you make macs the solution to technology problems, I will kill a kitten every day for the rest of my life. Well, maybe not. But I will think *really hard* about it.
I used a mac for 2 years. I learned the ins and outs of the system, upgraded to snow leopard, learned that system, bought apps, did the whole mac ‘thing’. Then I went back to a windows machine, and I have never loved them more. Better hardware, better software, and better choices. For a much, MUCH lower price.
The Huge Success quote throws me off. Daisy is from Hal being deleted, and apparently, the third quote is the same.
Huge Success, however, is a victory song. GLaDOS is singing about how everything went wonderfully. Sure you destroyed everything, but you have shown the Portal gun is ready for release, and she has backups anyway.
Malificus: yeah, but GLaDOS also says “You killed me.” She is not a very reliable narrator, so was she lying THEN, or when she said she would survive? Her fate at the end of Portal is, to my mind at least, ambiguous… an ambiguity resolved in Portal 2, but not before.
But that’s exactly what Steve wanted you to do…
Okay, “Daisy” and “Great Success” I get. What’s the third reference?

It worked because it was thematically necessary, duh :p

It is a mistake. It will be corrected.

Argh, shame on you. of course this is the answer.
Really? Really?
…So, how much is Apple paying you for this endorsement?
Now for 10 people to die due to actions other than the AI’s because Steve Jobs is still alive.
So wait… this thing infects a phone that is based off of a modified *nix kernal, but its weakness is an OS that is *nix based?
I gotta say. I shoulda seen this one coming.

To several others: this story is not over yet.
T Campbell: Fair enough.
