I’m surprised Rumy didn’t simply destroy any output device in the room that could be used to communicate with the aliens (loudspeakers, etc) that couldn’t simply be unplugged (and unplugged anything that she could). That would have put a damper on Cloud’s ability to gain control of them.
@ GReeve: Good point… going a little further, she could probably just have asked the aliens to teleport the PA system speakers and monitors somewhere far off-site. Sure, Team Alpha wouldn’t be able to use them at that point, but they aren’t getting much use out of them right now, and that’d buy time to excise Cloud from the main systems.
Of course, judicious use of unrestricted teleportation tends to solve basically any problem, so I can see why the aliens are mostly used as facilitators in these stories. Otherwise they’d end much too quickly.
