Normally I’d think Julia’s face in the last panel looked funny. But given the context, it was the part of the strip that actually hit me the hardest. At first it really didn’t sink in that “Future Tim” died, but that last panel really did it. Then it hit me that Guth of all people is relating this fact. Maybe I’m just overly sappy, but my heart, it weeps.
Dotty is either very broken, or is hiding something like a second personality, she alsmost reminds me of that one Aegis agent, the one whose role was to “be nice”. That said it is pretty believable that Wonder General brought her here for credibility or because she promised to protect her.
I’m bettting that Dotty got some type of super-force hiding with-in herself. That’s what I thougth when I first saw her outfit, and I still think it’s true now!
Yeah, I was wondering as much last comic. Though really, after the event they’re talking about it doesn’t sound like there would be much more of Aegis left. Shanna, Hilda, Di and Marc (It didn’t look to me like Baxter got away) and Jared, with Rico in reserve. Which I guess isn’t THAT small, but still.
Dotty creeps me the heck out, I don’t know why. And T.? “Greencleaning”… Actually makes sense. Make that the second Newspeak word that doesn’t bother me. Not that I think I’m the definitive judge on these things, just thought I’d say something, as I’ve complained about it A LOT so far, and I don’t want it to seem like I’m going to hate on it no matter what.
It’s okay, Guth. We know how you felt about Tim. And that affection transfers to his daughter, apparently. You can use a less clinical term than “productive.”
Looks to me like Bax might have made an escape out that portal, but I’m doubting it would have done him much good in the long run anyway.
So now we know why there was a statue to Mech Tech. It was a memorial. And considering what happened to Baxter, Tim, and Julia I would wager that Guth body swapped with Di to avoid being killed.
@Piesaac. Yes, I noticed that which means the other members possibly fell out of favor and were symbolically removed, but Mech Tech having been killed in battle and thus unable to voice opposition would be elevated and mourned by whoever wins the power struggle. I’m thinking Ult (the man in the suit). Her death would probably be treated the same way Stalin used the assassination of Kirov to exterminate his enemies both real (AEGIS) and imaginary (anyone that disagrees with him.) Baxter might’ve escaped, but if he didn’t he probably ended up in Animal’s belly. He already had a score to settle and I think MT’s death would hit him the hardest.
@Trajan,
These are the guys who showed up in Worse than the Disease. We saw Mech Tech, Animal, and Wheaties in action and heard about Bellhop (who I assume has another name) then. We don’t know their whole deal but I’m sure we’ll get more on that soon since AEGIS’ second meeting with them is coming up.
And the time travelers (in case I misunderstand and that’s what has you confused) are General Julie (a clone of the General from much earlier in Faans), Dotty (Tim and Julia’s daughter), Joseph (son of Rikk, Rumy, and Ally), Tiki Wiki (unexplained backstory), and Guth (we are guessing in Di’s body for as yet unknown reasons).
Okay, check me on this. I read that last line as Julia [was] given her mother’s body back, and that Tim, having had tech skills, wasn’t for some reason, and giving it back, as opposed to what ever happened to Tim, was considered merciful somehow.
If that’s right…@T I don’t want to see the pain stricken cybernetic head of Tim that cannot self terminate, but desperately wants to. Just to voice a preference.
@The_Rippy_One:
I read it more as Tim and Julia were captured, Tim was killed out of fear of his technical expertise, and Julia released, as she was not considered a threat.
@The_Rippy_One: Look at the first panel- ‘You and Uncle Marc cared for Sean and me… and for Mommy…’ suggests that Julia survived. And that last line creeps me the hell out. What happened to Julia? Argh, the suspense.
I hope Guth was able to bring a copy of that virus along. Presumably knocking out MechTech at an early stage will make a big difference to AEGIS’ ability to fight our new villians.
of course, its also possible that perhaps Guth and Di traded bodies for other reasons, id offer the statement made that Guth was meant to be gay (or is gay, im not sure which) and perhaps the trade was to facilitate easier dating, but then i remembered that Guth was more asexual then anything else, even if he was gay.
If i were Shanna or Will, i wouldnt trust the time travelers too much just yet, cuz as the addage goes, “the more you try to change the future, the more it becomes the future yer trying to avoid.”
Guth is gay. But I reaaaaaaaaaaally doubt he’d trade bodies for a reason like that, and doubt even moreso that Di would agree to take Guth’s body just so he can get some action.
Bax might not have gotten caught right away, but I doubt the Cuckoos were willing to just let what he did slide. And if Aegis could oppose them strongly enough to protect Bax, they probably wouldn’t need to resort to time travel.
Zaha and Fitz seem to be doing their own thing, seperate from Aegis right now, but I guess that could change.
Hyperman has a new look.

Good to see Kath doesn’t trust them, not that I could imagine she would. I’d like to know what her role in the whole thing ended up being.

Who ARE these people?! GAH!!…I need to know their story. There hasn’t been a villain (or villains or whatever if they even are) since Keith.
I’m bettting that Dotty got some type of super-force hiding with-in herself. That’s what I thougth when I first saw her outfit, and I still think it’s true now!
You and Uncle Marc, huh?

It wasn’t a memorial, it was just the only one standing. Check out the base, you’ll see the broken bits of several other statues.
So, uh… when’s the forum gonna work again?
@Piesaac. Hmm. I guess it’s “Uncle Marc” because Will died in the attack, leaving Marc and Shanna to get together.

Dotty seems a few dots short of a polka.

Julia is in bad shape mentally because they killed Tim in front of her in some particularly horrible way.
@Alma I don’t see Baxter getting caught, so I’m assuming he gets away until I’m told otherwise. There’s also Zaha and Fitz to account for.
Bax might not have gotten caught right away, but I doubt the Cuckoos were willing to just let what he did slide. And if Aegis could oppose them strongly enough to protect Bax, they probably wouldn’t need to resort to time travel.
