So….Di’s favorite movie is Star Wars III, and she needs to think about how “he” was redeemed. Let’s assume the subject is Anakin Skywalker.
He redeemed himself by killing his master.
Di’s master just betrayed people.

True but is Rumy Anakin or is Di Anakin in the analogy? If Di is Anakin then she must redeem herself by turning on her master who is too far gone. But if Rumy is Anakin, that would make Di “Luke” and the message might have a different interpretation – ie. “She may have gone to the dark side but she can still be saved.” It was an unwillingness to kill his child that finally redeemed Anakin and Rumy has always thought of Di as a surrogate child of sorts – I think this was even touched upon in previous strips.
Yeah… way to leave a shitty message, Di. But Luke wasn’t around yet in episode III, so I’d have to say the message pertains to Anakin. Now if that means that Rumi will protect her, or if she has to kill Rumi… that’s another question. But let’s not forget that Rumi did just run into her long-lost son.
