I just mean it’s kind of weird for a guy as young as he is to have a lot of graying. Not *unheard* of, but statistically unusual. And what’s weirder is that he’s the only character in Shortpacked to have such a dramatic change with nobody(in strip) commenting about it. It just sorta happened, and fairly quickly.
This looks like a job for…. Amazi-Girl. Or maybe not since her alter ego could be pregnant in this universe too. Is that Dirty Harry in the background?
Are… are we actually watching Rumy pulling a Hayden Christensen on us? I sincerely hope not. This could still end well. And I don’t mean a feel-good, push-the-reset-button kind of ending (although I would gladly welcome any half-baked explanation over another Episode III )
I’m going gray at only 25, and people just generally don’t say anything. Even people close to me and who’ve known me for years rarely comment on it. Before I experienced it, I’d be with you on “He went gray fast and no one said anything?” but not that I’ve gotten some gray pretty quickly, it’s pretty realistic, lol.
Well it’s no wonder that Ethan’s going grey, I mean, look at what he has to put up with from Amber, Mike, and of course, you can’t forget Robin…. oh, and Galasso, Leslie, Malaya… you know what, just the whole friggin cast of Shortpacked is insane….
Nope. No special restrictions on its use.
You may be thinking of Mjolnir, which does have them.
(Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.)
And that’s just a Marvel invention afaik.
Because the only weapon of Arthur that had a restriction was Caliburn, and that was the whole only those who are the rightful King may draw the sword from the stone.
Now granted, it kinda depends on how far back you go in the myths, but generally they’re considered separate blades.
Depends. In some, Arthur unjustly fights the Black Knight, slays him, but during the battle Excalibur breaks and it is only by the grace of the lady of the lake that it is remade, etc etc.
I thought Arthur couldn’t use Excalibur unless it leaped from the sheath into his hands, he couldn’t draw it in anger. I don’t think this Excalibur has a sheath, though.
@Brasca1 No, that’s not Dirty Harry in he background. For some reason, T wanted Dharma and Greg to have a cameo. Maybe they live in San Francisco. Never watched it, m’self.
So, wanna hear something funny? I’m reading Shortpacked archives, like WAY back from 2005 where Ethan mentions that T. Campbell’s Fans is ending (and hairy hater guy hilariously mentions that he thought the artwork on the last storyline sucked). My son’s here reading over my shoulder, and he says ‘What’s that?’ So I click on the handy link in the comments, and…wouldn’t you know it. There’s Ethan, running for his life!
Men in my family traditionally start to get grey hair somewhen in their mid-thirties. And usually have completely grey hair by the age of forty-five to fifty or sooner.
Gundi: My now 20 year old nephew has had some grey hair ever since he was a baby (we used to joke it was because he was so hyper that he gave himself grey hair in addition to his parents), and now has noticeable streaks. So it’s not that unusual to me.
@ Jason. Thanks for clearing that up. I know Dirty Hairy was a cop in San Francisco and figured the situation must be really bad if he’s running away. As for Dharma I was confused as to whether she was Nancy Pelosi, Edna Krapapple, or just some bystander.
Rumy, Rumy, Rumy. *Sighs*
Also, RUN ETHAN RUN. Even in an alternate universe he inexplicably has a graying hairline!
“Inexplicably?”

So… inexplicably. To me, anyway.

Rumy trying to cut off Mechtech’s access to AEGIS HQ? I doubt she’s smashing random stuff.
@ Arky. Mech Tech is wireless and looks like an electrical pole anyway.
Are… are we actually watching Rumy pulling a Hayden Christensen on us? I sincerely hope not. This could still end well. And I don’t mean a feel-good, push-the-reset-button kind of ending (although I would gladly welcome any half-baked explanation over another Episode III )
Didn’t Excalibur have some repurcussions if used for the wrong purpose?
Is this when Jared’s giant robot and android maid show up?
To Gundi:

@ Locke. I was thinking of Big O too, but didn’t say anything because I didn’t think anyone would get it.
Sorry, T. Any strip in which Graying Ethan shows up requires half the comments to be directed towards the perceived implausibility.
You mean perceived sexiness right Mr. Willis? Ethan + Greying Hair = Uber Sexy More Mature Looking Ethan!
Besides I’m younger than Ethan and my hair is noticeably greying…
Well it’s no wonder that Ethan’s going grey, I mean, look at what he has to put up with from Amber, Mike, and of course, you can’t forget Robin…. oh, and Galasso, Leslie, Malaya… you know what, just the whole friggin cast of Shortpacked is insane….
@ Locke: If anyone deserves a giant robot and an android maid, it’s Jared. 😀
@khavren

Ethan has a graying hairline?
*walks over to Shortpacked*
Huh. Looks more like shading to me, but if it’s Word of God…

Remember folks, it’s factually impossible for a person under the age of 60 to have any grey hair (At which point it all becomes grey at once)
I like the graying hair thing.
Rumy, why are you chopping up a pole? The live wires are going to land on you, you silly woman.

Also, who are the other two in that panel? I feel like I should know who they are.

Just saying.
