This room is based directly on the meeting hall of my own college Science Fiction Club in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Katherine's bossy brand of democracy wouldn't have been out of place in my Club's early history.

The people I thank in the credit list were Science Fiction Club members around the same time I was, and so was Greg. Sara was involved with a Club member for a while. Greg and Sara and I are still fairly close; most of the others, I've barely seen in years. Sad, but that's sort of why I started this series, as opposed to any other: as my parting gesture to them. Or at least it's one of the reasons.
