I hope that they had someone double check Hilda’s figures, because it just might be possible that *she’s* the traitor, plaining to betray them to kill Feddyg, thus preventing the nightmarish future that she saw.
To quote Goodkind: “The greatest harm can result from the best intentions.”
Man, they better pray that we, the readers, never see or hear this plan before it’s implemented, or else it’s doomed to fail. I mean, seriously, name one plan in any fiction that the reader was in on that succeeded as planned. It never happens! Whereas if you just keep the plan to yourselves, and leave it as a dramatic reveal when it’s implemented, it has a much higher chance of succeeding.
I’m pretty sure this flamboyant way of stating her plans is a smokescreen, just like the one Hilda used to fool Cloud the A.I.
Makes sense. If the traitor thinks Hilda is chasing a red herring he/she will let his/her guard down. By the way, I love Rumy and Will’s reactions to Hilda’s accusations. Great work, Mr. Waltrip.
There is 100% no chance of Hilda being the traitor. She was mildly suspicious earlier, but this is too over-the-top. When has anything T’s written fallen into the realm of predictable-by-the-fans? Maybe once in a while, something can be figured out based just on the way the story is forming, but this is too blatant. Makes me think that Hilda is definitely not the traitor. I think I have to agree with Moebius Strip-Tease in that Hilda is bluffing here, saying these things to their faces. I also think that by saying it, she’s cementing their loyalty, making them aware of their shortcomings.
I think Ganurath had it right last update. I think in the original timeline, Rumy gets ahold of the 23-sider. Rikk is cured by Animal blood when the Hand invades and destroys Aegis. Shortly thereafter, Rikk and Rumy are both killed by the Hand, leaving Ally to raise the child alone in a dystopia ruled by monsters.
Of course, that’s what WOULD have happened. It’s been prevented now by Hilda’s brilliant scheme. So what’s going to happen now? The title of the chapter still implies that there’s gonna be some betraying going on… Inquiring minds want to know!
Fark, Jesse’s betrayal. There was so much obvious foreshadowing. I didn’t want it to be true, but even I saw all the foreshadowing there.
And you’re discounting something: if he makes it obvious knowing that you won’t expect an obvious twist from him, suddenly it becomes a twist you won’t expect. Maybe I’m giving him too much credit, but T could be using this whole situation to play an epic mind game with us. Who KNOWS who it could be?
But if you add motivation, the fact that she’s a super-genius, and that grating smug face she makes in the last panel up there, yeah, I’m putting my chips on Hilda. Not to say that it couldn’t be anyone else.
I smell a Shyamalanian twist coming up…
Jeez Hilda. Smug much? This is so going to blow up in her face.
I’m seeing an “Evil Hilda” twist that might be possibly on the way.
And only Jesse will be able to save them. (Now, that’s just me reaching.)

Next on the line: Hilda. That’s where my bets are.
Let the games begin!

I think I’ve identified the traitor.
Caaaaalled it!
Well, except for the seduction part.
Also Will’s use of the word ‘smeg’ here is priceless.
Like I said, she’s the Goddamn Batman.

Brilliant.
By the conventions of comic perspective, I say Shanna has just been pegged as the traitor due to her reaction shot in panel 2.

40 pages later, I’m still wondering what Hilda’s plan is/was.
By making Rikk’s cure integral to the short-term plan, Hilda made Will and Rumy much less likely to jump ship to seek that cure. That’s basically it.
