They did it. They finally addressed it. They finally mentioned the 23 sider.
I’m so happy. Thank you, Fans! creative team!
T Campbell already said that you need authorization from Jared, the US Secretary of Defense and the US president in order to use the 23 sider. I doubt they’ll allow access to it just to save one guy, but hey, who knows? Rikk _is_ a popular guy. Anyway, it’s just as well. I’ve kept on mentioning the sider as a last resort because of the risks involved, and because the guys aren’t out of options yet. They still have to trample Animal to a pulp like traditional wine makers. One glass of Sang d’Animal, coming up!
Given how he must have felt about how things went with Anakin maybe it was Obi Wan who needed to redeem himself (which he did by passing the torch and sacrificing himself).
Okay, *so* not the point, what with all of the betrayal and everything, but Episode III was the only one that was *almost* as good as the original Trilogy. That said, the Prequels sucked. They sucked so hard. None of us will *ever* love a woman as much as George Lucas hates his fans.
I’m wondering how the cloning will fail. That’s the only one which hasn’t been debunked yet, before they start hunting down the Animal… like an animal.
Oh, almost forgot to comment on Di’s bizarre movie tastes…
It’s clear to me that characters like Di or Marc are in this comic to challenge/subvert/provide a relief from the usual geek stereotype. I guess it thus makes sense to show Di as someone divorced from the general consensus, someone capable of appreciating a movie that’s normally reviled by it’s target audience. And hey, now there’s _another_ person that enjoys Mannequin Skywalker’s performance (other than Lucas, that is)
I still like the idea of cryogenically freezing him with a note that says not to unfreeze him until a cure for Worthington Syndrome has been found and time travel has been invented. He’d be like Eighties Guy, except he could actually _go back to the eighties_! WHOA.
Maybe the reason why the time travelers didn’t bring the cure with them is not because they forgot, but because they meant to get Rikk killed off. Because if they had cured him, he would not commit a heroic act of defiance and self-sacrifice that they expected from him for the time line to continue.
So the betrayal is that Rumi is going to snap and do something stupid to try and save Rikk? And Di is going to be the only one who can stop her? And in the alt-history, Di let her do whatever it is that she is going to do, and regretted it? Why so cryptic, indeed. We’ve been seeing Rumi’s steadily growing frustration and desperation. Desperate people do desperate things… But why would future Shanna be so reluctant to talk about it then? Unless we’re about to see Rumi seduce Will to get him to hand over the 23-sider? (Obviously not going to happen!)
@Kim “if you want to see real trolling of the fanbase, play Cross Days.”
Or read Homestuck. It would be so easy to hate the author if he wasn’t so damned good.
In unrelated news – I’m delighted to see that BaxDi has progressed far enough in their relationship to be referred to in passing as ‘guys’ and to respond in unison. Aren’t these little milestones wonderful?
Still thinking that the Rikk’s undisclosed use of the 23-sider is the “betrayal”. Everyone trusts him. Learning that he nearly ended the world (and essentially let someone else take the fall for it) would really hurt those who believed in him and be a PR setback of epic proportions.
I’m okay with Di liking the prequels. I know of several younger people (and I think Di’s like 19 now) that saw those first (nothing like taking your 6 year old to a nice, violent movie). I was in high school when episode 1 came out so if we think of the Fans! timeline as not too far future (or just simply AU and current day) Di would still have been in elementary school when they started coming out.
“… No, I’ve got a better plan! There’s this old man who came by wanting to play a fiddle contest. All Rikk has to do is beat him, and he’ll do anything he wants! … Oh, but if he loses, apparently he wants some fish or something. I dunno.”
The 23-sider cannot bring to pass anything that could not happen naturally. It’s been confirmed that Animal’s blood could cure Rikk. Using the 23-sider to cure Rikk would result in the Hand infiltrating and attacking Aegis.
Star Wars III.
You know how sometimes people win the internets?
Di just lost them.
In other news, Marc is up to something. What’s the hardware in that box? Is it really Marc?
Oh, wow, the 23-sider. That’s like opening a big can of “What’ll happen next?!”…

Someone’s gonna get it!
Jesse,
if you want to see real trolling of the fanbase, play Cross Days.
Rikk didn’t really feel comfortable having them using body swapping to save him, but I am sure he’ll LOVE the idea of using the 23-sider…..
(who says you can’t use sarcasm on the internet?)

Ok Rumy is the best candidate I’ve heard yet.
The pieces are starting to fall into place.
Di The Apprentice is about to witness the fall of Rumy, her Master.
Is Rumy going to try and take the 23 sider by force?
Will she then destroy the world to save Rikk?
Will Rikk refuse to be saved this way?

Comments like that Locke are why I love reading your randomness.
