Here comes the crucial part. Soon we will see if the Fans 2099 actually made their trip for something.
Say, if AEGIS is facing “Shmuperman”, isn’t there some “shmyptonite”, purple sun radiation or something like that they can use? I mean, I bet even “mundanes” would have thought about that
urhmmm…. if Aegis can teleport Shuperman… why not teleport every finger of the hand away from each other (and into stasis cells for example)…
Or at least teleport them far away from the bystandders.
Looks like the display of force is among the objectives…
Gabe, in this context, is probably a scientist assigned to studying one of the “actual” Green Lantern rings that Aegis obtained during the battle against the God Machine. It looks more like some sort of green lantern device, about tricorder-sized. He likely reverse engineered the effect, but hasn’t developed it enough to get it back into a ring yet. This may even be a prototype, since we haven’t seen him in the field before now. (Tycho is the other Penny Arcade guy, and has not made an appearence in Fans that I know of. This is Gabe.)
Marigold was (sort of) officially introduced earlier in the North Korea storyline. She’s a member of Team Gamma with Hannelore. The sword thing is new but not surprising.
Dr. McNinja… well, lets just say he’s a ninja and therefore available for the right price. We’re probably pretty lucky that the Hand didn’t hire him instead.
I like to think (but there is no evidence of this) that Team Gamma is made up completely of other webcomic characters. They are probably led by Wil Wheaton, but I don’t know if TC has met him in real life yet so we may never know…
“urhmmm…. if Aegis can teleport Shuperman… why not teleport every finger of the hand away from each other (and into stasis cells for example)…”
Coupla reasons. First, it’s already been established that the Chiclets cannot interfere with Bellhop. The Incredible Teleporting Raisin apparently has some sort of history with them.
Second, it would be boring. Remember when they teleported Mr. T into the sun? And he just summoned his van and flew right back? It just doesn’t work. The Fansiverse has a certain narrative energy that makes sure that all important events have to have a certain level of drama. I like to imagine it’s that Zap-Crack Interdimensional Fights guy, making sure that every episode of “Those Chumps From Earth” is interesting and dramatic. Can’t let ratings slip, after all!
We don’t even know if teleportation can do the whole taking-people-apart bit. we’ve never had any clearly defined rules on how teleportation works around here.
@Aydr : “.. taking-people apart..”…. when I said every finger of the hand apart, i was thinking in THE HAND. as in Animal is the Thumb, Mechtech is the Index, etc 😀 . And Bellhop is not inmune, the Xeno-chiclets have ported him before. The other fingers can be targeted (or Aegis, wouldnt target Shuperman)… I never understood why they ported-out Bellhop anyway, he was the one with the obvious means to get back. The other fingers would be less abled, and there woulb be less colateral damage… I’m just saying… (what aligment are they now?)
Here’s a wild-hair theory: Rumi draws enough blood from Animal to heal Rikk but in the process the change the blood inflicts on Rikk causes him to be subverted into a new Cuckoo…
Teleportation won’t be a convenient answer to The Hand until they can shut down Bellhop from just teleporting his allies back. And while Bellhop has been Chicletted before, the resulting teleportation battle ended with Bellhop pulling a trump card that made the Chiclets unable to interfere with him. We can safely assume that this is either still in effect, or easily repeatable.
As for Dr. McNinja being there, clearly AEGIS was able to obtain the special comic book with the button on the back. True McNinja fans know what I’m talking about.
Oh Animal…
Careful what you wish for…
You just might get it…
Oh, there’s Hilda…
… OR IS IT? I bet it’s a robot! *cue rabid, baseless speculation*
Seriously, though, I guess that probably sinks my theory. Oh well.
They’re willing to take a publicity hit to make a public mess of the Hand.
Wasn’t the Hand’s point to make a public mess all along?

Hey, so AEGIS can do the Command & Conquer orbital ion cannon thing to people? Cool.
(KANE LIVES!)
I take it that Animal is being left alone so that Rumy can go spill his blood all over Rikk. Or at least, that’s the idea.

Because they only have two Xenochiclets working for them. Not an army of them.
Commiekeebler: If the Hand is in custody/dead, they’ll be in no condition to take advantage of that mess.
I still want to know what the other webcomic guys were doing in the last comic. How are they a part of this? And where did Tycho get his powers?
@Lich Mong
Based on what was displayed he looks to be some type of Green Lantern like figure.

Curse you, lack of preview and edit buttons!

A mage riding a dragon seems like an even better-than-crossbow response to Mechtech.

Hyperman is here? Sh!t. Hope the orbital laser is enough.
