The problem is, of course, what if the betrayal is something that looks totally neccessary to prevent the Hand from taking over? Sometimes what seems like the only choice is actually something that the enemy manuvers you into, so that it is the wrong choice. This is going to be intense, I’ll bet.
Hm. It’s just a hunch, but I think something important is going to happen in this Chapter. Maybe some sort of… Double-Cross? I dunno, might just be me…
@Jesse: Unless the enemy was expecting you to think they were maneuvering you into the wrong choice, when in fact it is the simple choice all along, and the betrayal is simply one of them thinking that they were being maneuvered into the wrong choice, leading them to choose the opposite choice which is in fact the wrong choice.
Man, future Shanna’s vagueness not only contributed very little to preventing this betrayal, but may have even doomed them to a Vizzini loop.
You are ahead of me then, I’m still just remebering what Katherine said about the General’s future speel the last time.
“She wanted me to think about it.”
Not that I think that is the case this time.
Hilda is definitely the most powerful member of team Alpha if you ask me.
Super-intelligence is always an overpowered ability when written by a nerd (I’m a nerd so I should know) . Coupled with the fact that in this universe you can learn magic by rote (Reed Richards wishes it worked like that in Marvel) she definitely seems like the Batman of the group.
I bet the betrayal comes from an unknown but trusted background character, which will make them question who they can trust, until they finally destroy themselves with paranoia.
After all, if you can’t trust your friendly, elderly janitor, who can you trust?
Shanna is supersmart too. You cant be a writer without been a reader first. and Shanna has shown heuristic approaches that saved the day, the group, and the reality more than once. 😀 She must have read hundreds of books.
Hilda’s ability can be a curse aswell as a blessing. Because she recalls everything, positive and negative (like torture). ….. oh…. I just get it…. Bruce remember his parents EVERY TIME HE SEES THE SKY DARK… maaaannnnn, no wonder his obsesion. He cant forget. Cool power for a detective…
I’m thinking Hilda’s going to try to kill Feddyg. Because she figures him an important part of the Hand’s plan. And she’s going to botch it, setting him free in the process.
Okay, so we know AEGIS is a very powerful force of good because of the dreamers that make it bigger than the sum of its parts. That was true even back when they were the Science Fiction Club. Their unity (note I didn’t wrote “friendship”) is their biggest asset.
Knowing that, there’s no big surprise when you realize that betrayal has been the weapon of choice of more than one past villain. Tackerabilitus tried to make all the fans in the world betray themselves to their own nerdy natures. Rob Worthington tried to use Zaha’s body issues to make her betray AEGIS. I wonder what angle are the bad guys going to use this time.
Not with the General there, and on the Fans side. He’s psychotically loyal to her, so he’d be loyal to the fans, unless it broke his mind that she’s loyal to the Fans, in which case, he could feel betrayed, himself, and join the hand, believing that they could make a more perfect General…, okay, now *I’m* getting caught in a Vizini Loop.
Fixed typos!
Before anyone even noticed them! Awesome.

Oh. The future version of Shanna is who told them about the betrayal? And refused to name names?
I just realized who it is, then.
This should be good.

Both choices were wrong. The Hand of Justice spent the last five years building up a resistance to Vizzini loops.

You’re forgetting her fledgling ability to break the fourth wall.

This is just a theory.

I wonder what Jesse’s up to.
Besides, you know, sitting in a cell.
Seems to me that if he could be coerced into service, he’d be a pretty good traitor-detector. Assuming the betrayal is premeditated.
Then again, letting him out could make him the traitor.

Jesse was in a flashback narrative episode, he looked like he redeemed himself in there.
