So this is how it ends. Its nostalgic that Will took up arms, and I mean really took up arms for his world, when he heard the prospect of war ending forever. Now, he gets to see that vision slowly unfold.
Well, that’s certainly a way to end the strip once and for all. At the bottom rungs of a very big ladder going up.
Probably has a better chance of sticking than the prior attempt, which was “and they merrily enjoyed the status quo ever after.”
While I liked that the prior wrap-up left everyone ensconced in comfortable and comprehensible fates, this seems a finale more fitting with the values espoused by Rikk Oberf — and whoever was putting words in his mouth.
Will the end credits have any other little wrap-up views like the German lady who now handles the portal to the Community? Dotty and Bellhop have yet to be addressed.
I think I recognize a few of the Community attendees. On the far right, we have Gort (with Klaatu as his ventriloquist dummy) from The Day the Earth Stood Still; on the far left, we have one of the Monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey; fourth from the left looks like one of the Overlords from Childhood’s End. Next to the “Overlord” is (one of?) the aliens that Link was shown greeting in the flashback (“Facing the Future”, page 9). The rest have me stumped.
It’s probably the same alien, given the position in The Community. Unless Link became a used car salesman on their planet after the takeover of Earth was complete.
nono, “End Credits” is the name of the next installment in the series, in which Marc comes back to lead the ground team under the command of Will and Shanna. …Right T?
In the previous post Tim was commenting that they would “be officially global soon” – and with Jared’s strike at the old headquarters they might be rebuilding outside official US control.
Nice. it seems that humans are about to enter discussions joining the Galactic community., you know i wasn’t hear to see the comic end last time so i’m not sure what book it was last time.
Now I imagine there’s an entire alien race of ventriloquists. Some of them earn their living by moving their own lips when they talk, a skill that takes years to master.
Am I the only one amused by the fact, that fearless Rikk Oberf, who doesn’t blink an eye at the most devious and horrifying of opponents looks absolutely terror-stricken while driving the car.
The aliens are as follows: from left to right, The Monolith from 2001 A Space Oddysey, alien from It Came From Outer Space, a Close Encounters of the Third Kind alien, an Overlord from Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End from Wayne Barlowe’s Guide to Extra-terrestrials, the Community representative seen before in an earlier fans strip, my version of a Krell from Forbidden Planet, and Gort and Klaatu from the original The Day the Earth Stood Still.
uhmm… what about that load of data future-Guth sent to present-Guth? was it of any use in the crisis? was it only a legacy kind of thing? (what is left for present-Guth if everything is already resolved by future-Guth?). me wants more Guth, and more Tim, and more Shanna, me want more, and all, and now….. but…
anyway, everything good comes to an end.
farewell T, and Jason, it was a good ride.
Sorry, if I was a nuissance now and then.
This comic is one of a few that i can say i’m a fan of.
@Drakkin: Yes, Guthrie’s sphere only contained scientific research and had nothing to do with the Hand of Justice. See http://www.faans.com/betrayal-3-of-24/
Wow, guys. This ending has great closure. More adventures yet to come for our heroes (retired and the ones who aren’t), but we can let go here. At least I can.

“Community” Thursday Nights on IBC (Interstellar Broadcasting Corporation)

Well done. Did not see this one coming.

… this feel very much like a moment suited to the Star Wars end credits music hitting.
da de da de da de DA DA DA DAAAAA DAAAAAA DA DA DA DAAAAAAAA DAAAAAA DA DA DA DAAAAAA DAAAAAA DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAA
Well done T. Well finished.
Ending? Damn. A good end, but a good last meal is still a last meal.
…next to the Monolith, is that a Bleen from the webcomic Vexxarr?
More likely something less obscure that has a similar build, I guess.

Noooooooooooooooooo
Can’t let it end!!!
Gimme something! Anything! Flashback sequence! Prequel adventure! FANS babies/My little FANS/FANS Christmas Special!!!
Anything!!!
I’m begging here!
(ahem)
I forgot to complement Mr. Waltrip for his aliens. Some I recognize, and some I feel I should recognize. Question: No Xenochiclets?
And besides: Are all Earth nations OK with the US being in charge of negotiations with the aliens?
The xenochiclets aren’t any more experienced with alien contact than we are. They are not Community big cheeses.
In the previous post Tim was commenting that they would “be officially global soon” – and with Jared’s strike at the old headquarters they might be rebuilding outside official US control.
That’s the version of the Overlord from Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials, yes?

😛
The only representative that looks happy to see them is the poseable plastic man.

G’job T.
Now fill in the dropdown so I can read it, already.

Drakkin, the alien from south-america.

Best comic ever is ending… too soon!

But if keep updating the site, I’ll be here. 😀
