wow i think Wheaties really is wearing down Go Di!!. thins makes me think of Hulk and Thor. they can fight for days on end but eventually they get tired. especially professor hulk who thinks he has a maximum mass that will cause him to change back into banner.
I didn’t notice until now but Ult, seconds before the big orbital laser boom, turned into the handsome journalist, before he turned into what looked like his ‘real alien’ form.
We might get to see Wheaties cycle through inferior forms too, if she keeps it up.
I don’t think the rest of the Cuckoos were shape-shifters with inferior forms like Ult was. Jared came to that conclusion based on the information at hand but Link later explained that they were mindforms that inhabit the bodies of various species. It would follow then that Ult’s shapeshifting powers and resulting different forms were the result of inhabiting the body of a shape-shifting host species. In that event Wheaties would presumably just be inhabiting the body of a really really strong humanoid species.
You’re not going to tire him down, Di. The bastard doesn’t like being run over by a truck or being set on fire, and he _does_ feel your punches, which means his body _can_ be damaged, but he’s still way too inhuman for you to go toe to toe with him expecting to win. Come one, you read Miller’s Dark Knight Returns. I hope for your own sake that you also read the Death of Superman
She’s fighting magnificently – she just gave it all she’s got. And yet, Wheaties still just (albeit slowly) keeps getting back up. Her: knees wobbly, drenched with sweat, bags under eyes… I agree, unless backup comes now, the heel is turning.
about Wheaties getting smaller could it be that his body realizing that while big and strong he’s not agile enough to catch Di so is adapting a smaller more agile found but is also less invulnerable as a trade of for it’s increased agility and dexterity?
It doesn’t really look like his body is getting smaller to me (his shadow is plenty menacing in that second to last panel). Might just be that the perspective is different in different panels.
Holy crap I did not expect her to hold her own in a STRAIGHT UP FIST FIGHT WITH WHEATIES
Also we are getting sunday comics now apparently. Cool.

Wheaties looks (very) slightly less muscular in the 3rd to last panel. I wonder if he’s losing the ability to maintain his form, like Ultman was.

Talk about your second wind.
She is working that neck and skull very well here.
Body shots getting nowhere? Go for the small parts XD
Loved this sequence.
This is what they call a “hope spot” in pro-wrestling. Expect the heel to reverse this on the next page.
That’s right. Look only at the girl currently kicking your ass, Wheaties. Look… only… at… the… girl.
And remember, not all of the Cuckoos are mindform aliens, like Soulson, and I suspect Animal was something else as well.

I never knew dirty fighting could be so beautiful! >:D

Dayum.
That launching herself through the air at him.
E. Honda, eat your heart out. 😀
Beautiful use of action lines.
Moebius Strip-Tease: I think the real question is whether she’s read Geoffrey of Monmouth.
When Di goes down fighting, Di goes down fighting! If anyone hears a high-pitched sound, that’s just me. Squealing. Like the fangirl that I am.

Headshot… Headshot…

More adapted Miller quotes: “Baxter — I’ve finally gotten him angry.”
