At first it appeared like Soulson was switching sides and perhaps that’s what he wanted Rikk to believe too, but I think the purpose in goading Wheaties to fight Di and doing nothing while this is going down is he wants Rikk dead in an accident that was “beyond his control.” Rumy would never willingly leave if Rikk and Ally are still alive so his intent is to kill them off. Makes me wonder if he was really using the Hand all along.
I’m probably alone on this, but I actually want Animal to rough Rikk up. He’s too damn smug.
I guess that when you’re married to an honorable martial arts masters AND to the queen of dirty fighting you’re bound to kick ass, sooner or later. Even if you still look as scrawny as you looked back in college
I’ll agree Brasca, Rikk is a bit smug right now… But Animal only needs but one good hit to win.
Personally I think that SoulSon doesn’t know what he wants other then his mother to leave earth… He’s trying to not think to hard about HOW he’s going to get his goal. Cause he doesn’t wanta think about that stuff.
Did Soulson ever think of, like, ASKING his mother to visit him, or did he just jump straight into “the best way to get my mother to love me is to get Earth conquered by sadists, get her lovers killed, and trust the sadists to let me take her away as my prize”? If he’s so obsessed with living with his mother, the fact that he hasn’t seen her in years is kind of puzzling.
It seems to me like he’s not merely immature, but actually completely bonkers.
Soulson’s psyche has officially reached complete cluster@*#k status. Toddler level thinking indeed. Which is both strange, as well as not strange. Because if you think about it, he’s only, what… like nine, ten years old? Plus he was raised off-planet by a race that can barely comprehend most human concepts.
Interesting. I had assumed that Rikk’s plan was to get Animal to fatally injure him…which would FORCE his captors to use Animal’s blood to cure him, so they can still use him as a captive. But currently there’s no one on the island inclined to keep him alive.
Most likely that was his plan, but of course, beating up Animal is also a perfectly viable plan. The best plans are multi-branching, all leading to victory
Ooh. Link is falling apart now that his consciousness isn’t in the same dimension as his parts. Interesting. Also possibly good news for Shanna regarding any bits of him that may currently be causing internal injuries.
Rikk beating up Animal would be a stretch seeing as how he’s not wearing his strength suit, at the moment but not completely out of the realm of possibility given his training. Knowing Rikk, he’s not counting on a physical win. He’s still counting on turning Soulson to his side.
I disagree with the assessment that Rikk is actually smug. I think you are just picking up on the reaction he is intending his opponents to have to how he is acting. I expect he is playing them on that level even as he’s playing Animal on the physical level to get him to cut the strands against his will. He may be in a battle with Animal, but he won’t forget that he is at war with The Hand. I just hope he still has that secondary objective of taking advantage of the properties in Animal’s blood.
Anyway, I always enjoy seeing Rikk work the badguys… I hope he can pull it off this time.
Remember the symptoms of his disease: his blood is driving him to be faster and more invigorated before the decline. So Rikk’s actually in BETTER shape than he was before right now.
Does being retired mean anything if you are, at most, 32 years old?

Soulson’s a lot less mature than he looks, isn’t he? That’s, like, toddler-level self-centered thinking going on in panel 4.

Of course, that line of thinking means his accidental killing of Rumi’s kid.. wasn’t.

Rumi is going to be very angry with that young man. Might even kill him, WHEN she finds out…

That boy is not playing with a full deck.

Oh, you’re right. I totally forgot about that- makes this whole thing a little bit less implausible.
Still, he’s got no chance in an actual fight. He can’t win this by beating on Animal.
