Unless you unlocked one of those orbs I’m afraid so Di.
I was right about Wheaties. It still seems like a risky move, but if his intent was to grab Ally and then claim he was putting her out of harm’s way I suppose the public would buy it.
I doubt the alien wants Di to get killed, so she’s probably OK. If she can swing it so Rikk’s cage gets knocked over before they can knock her out, all the better.
Good thing the Hand were dumb enough to go for Ally without dealing with Di first. I assumed it wasn’t Wheaties exactly because they know Di’s capabilities and should have grabbed her FIRST.
Yet Link is talking with the president right now. So it would only be a part of him? Or something he made out of his body and/or surrounding materials?
We don’t know enough about his actual powers yet, I guess.
I really hope you can survive this ordeal, Di. I like you a lot, and I really would like to see how your relationship with Baxter develops. However, if you die in battle against the Hand, I gotta say it would be a fitting punishment for liking Star Wars’ prequels. May the gods of geekdom have mercy on your soul
The bit about Link is fascinating. Either he can be in two places at once or he just manufactured something to keep Rick contained. Because that’s him in the picture.
Also, I LOVE that ‘cracking my neck’ look in the last panel. Di, keep being awesome in your finest hour!
She’s laid back about her suicidal move because her message from the orb was to sacrifice herself for the happy ending, as in Anakin’s redemption.
Presumably her alt-future self didn’t take this option when it came by and regretted it ever since, although it’s mildly sketchy how they’d have gotten there without the Maximilliana clone.
Also, she doesn’t seem likely to actually die any time soon, at least not before first achieving some major victory. She’s currently enjoying a +5 heroic sacrifice bonus to combat, an additional +6 against wheaties for overcoming her personal fear of facing him again, and conservation of ninjitsu (well, martial arts in general) will work wonders in her favor for facing three invincible enemies at the same time.
The entire event at the White House might be fabricated. They might not be there at all.
Di never used the device that Guthrie from the future gave her, so she’s probably not dead yet. (Unless we have a flashback mid-fight where we find out that she did use it, and what she learned from it.)
I think Bellhop closed his portal to keep all of Team Alpha from coming through it and rescuing Rikk.
attagirl.
I forget . . . which Hand member is the piles of rocks?
Er wait, why did Bellhop open a portal right there, and then close it before anyone could get back through? Did he do that on purpose to help Rumi?
The portal is where Wheaties came from. And then immediately got kicked back through.

@Christopher
I think I see a wire, so it might just be Link.

“It is a a good day to die.”

She seems awfully blasse about this…

Trick question: did Bellhop close his portal because
A) He’s trying to covertly help Rumy
B) He’s getting Di into a death trap
C) Both?

Kinda imagining this conversation now.
“Hey Rick.”
“Hey Di.”
“How’s it hanging?”
“Oh, you know. Still dying. Same old.”
“Yeah, pretty much the same here.”
She did use it. All it said was the stupid message about Episode III and mental masturbation.
Um, yeah she did. “Remember your favorite movie”? Where do you think that came from?
