"The Perfect Blog" (3 of 6)

November 24, 2002

Day One.

Howie Ronald: "I need an edge in the marketplace, and I'm used to high-risk, high-return. I know there's a risk this thing will eat my brain, but there's also a good chance it'll make me smarter than my competitors. And it's free. I'm no sucker."

Rosie Easton: "I want to look back on my life, intelligently, and see if I made the right choices. I've got so many regrets and so much stuff in my head, and I want to see. I want to know."

Hal Easton: "It got me out of jury duty. Besides, she always says I never take her anywhere." At this point, Rosie and Hal got into a shouting match which lasted almost a full minute.

Gordon Thompson: "Because world communism can work, and I want to know how."

Savannah Blake: "Because, really, I get tired. You know? Of not knowing how to pronounce the Iraqi words on the cue cards? I still don't understand, yeah?, why they can't just spell it 'I-R-A-K' since it's in Arabic anyway?" (Edited for clarity.)

Nick Snare: "None of your damn business."

It's hard for me to find a common theme in the blog entries they were shown. They seem to be rambles of random length (up to 20 lines) with links on random topics: how to use Photoshop, new views on 9-11, Lanchester's Law of Squares, bow tie fashions, zoology among the rich, the Pythagorean Theorem in action, the theory that Saddam Hussein was once an idealist... there must be a pattern in there. I just can't see it yet. Kris would say I'm thinking about it too much, and I ought to let it come to me in my dreams.

Funny. I haven't thought about Kris in years.
