Bill Gates was far more feared then than he is today. In the first draft the villain actually was Gates himself, but I soon realized that was a dead end. It'd be interesting to cast the movie with our unnamed villain remodeled as more of a Sergey Brin stand-in. Great villains either mirror the heroes or oppose them on a fundamental level, sometimes both, and the ubergeeks in the tech sector represent the highest level of power a science-fiction fan is likely to achieve. They are our brothers, but they rule us. Power is exciting and frightening.
