Lord Ruthven, Sir Azzo, and Varney (Tim's character) are all vampires taken from real legend.

An 1872 novella "Carmilla" mentions an eponymous vampire who could ressurect herself. Each time she came back to life, she'd name herself a different anagram of her old name (Mircalla, Millarca). Hence, "Llacrima," which also refers to the Latin for "tears."
